Planning a lift and shift?
Relocation & Migration services
The consolidation and relocation of server and IT infrastructure can bring measurable benefits - reduction in IT costs, improved performance, improved business continuity and optimisation of service management. But many organisations are hesitant to make the ultimate decision to consolidate due to natural concerns that their critical applications and services will be adversely affected by such moves. Such concerns are legitimate and that's where we can help.
We have genuine experience of major server relocation projects under our belts, including the physical migration of own servers from third party locations into our own Data Centres. The experience gained in these migrations has provided the company with the expertise required for the provision of detailed migration planning and deployment services.
iomart Hosting employs an iterative project lifecycle for all server migration and consolidation projects.
Four main stages are employed: Define, Design, Deliver and Manage:
Define
The Define stage covers both your specific service requirements as well as any project planning and migrations services required. At this stage requirements are matched and appropriate solutions are proposed. Items covered at this stage include:
- All system inter-dependencies analysis
- Front end and back end systems relationship analysis
- Modelling of pre-and post-relocation enterprise environments
- Identification of applications that require specialist fine tuning
- Design storage and business continuity architecture
- Calculate hardware requirements and plan for replicants and redundancy
Design
The Design phase will take this process further, and we will work out an exact project plan for you
Deliver
The Delivery stage will see iomart Hosting implement your project plan, including the physical movement of the hardware, installation and testing.
Manage
Management is the ongoing process of ensuring the successful migration of your servers and IT infrastructure and includes communications, project meetings etc.
If you would like to discuss any planned or imminent server migration projects, please contact us now.
